Search Digital Copies of The Stanley Republican

Digitized issues of The Stanley Republican from 1896-2004 are searchable online through the Archive of Wisconsin Newspapers. This archive is free for Wisconsin residents for personal research and educational purposes, via BadgerLink, Wisconsin’s Online Library.

From the BadgerLink homepage, click on “All Resources” and then scroll down and select "Archive of Wisconsin Newspapers." If you are a Wisconsin resident, select "Wisconsin - enter zip code below" from the drop down. Enter your ZIP code in the next (second) field. Click the "Login" button. You also may select your library or school in the drop down, and then enter your library card/barcode/ID in the second field. Then click the "Login" button. If you are having trouble logging in, use BadgerLink's Contact Us form.

BadgerLink provides step-by-step instructions for searching the Archive of Wisconsin Newspapers. When you are logged in, click “Help” for tips on searching. You also can review an info sheet and watch videos on the BadgerLink Resource page with training materials.

Within the archive, newspaper titles are listed alphabetically. Search newspapers from 2005 until present on the first screen or click the red box to search historical newspapers (pre-2005).

Non-residents can find online resources available in their state or check with their local public library to see if access to the Archive of Wisconsin Newspapers is available through a fee-based service. Paid access is available through Wisconsin Newspaper Association’s Wisconsin News Tracker Service.

BadgerLink resources, including Wisconsin newspapers since 2005, are purchased with state Universal Service Funds on behalf of all Wisconsin residents. The Stanley Area Historical Society raised the funds necessary for the project.
